  • Music festival season is almost upon us. Here are some great events for lovers of Jewish music:

    Atlanta Jewish Music Festival, May 9-13. This festival emphasizes fresh, diverse, and engaging musical experiences with concerts, listening parties, and open mic events. Click here for more information.

    Pittsburgh Jewish Music Festival, May 20-June 3, at the Pittsburgh JCC. Featuring performances by Ayre with David Krakauer, Kosher Gospel with Joshua Nelson, and “Swing and Singing” with Ortner Roberts Duo, Zohar Chamber Singers and Hazamir Pittsburgh. Click here for more information.

    Workmen’s Circle Yiddishfest 2012- Singing for a Better World, June 26 in Central Park, NYC. Featuring The Klezmatics, SoCalled, Daniel Kahn and The Painted Bird, Joshua Nelson, the National Yiddish Theater’s production of “Soul to Soul, and Yiddish Princess. This event is FREE and runs from 7-10pm. Click here for more information.

    The Jewish Culture Festival of Krakow, June 29-July 8. This amazing festival features an eclectic range of performers, exhibits, lectures, films, and workshops. The festival celebrates all aspects of Jewish culture- from American klezmer to Israeli folk to traditional Cantorial music.     SUMMERNIGHTS, the Summer concert series at The Jewish Museum of New York. July 12 is Howard Fishman, July 19 is Slavic Soul Party!, and July 26 is One Ring Zero. Click here for more information.

    The International Jewish Music Festival will be held in Amsterdam October 11-14. The festival features a musical competition in which the winners go on tour in 2013. Click here for more information.

    The Jewish Musical Festival of Berkeley was held in March but check back for updates on upcoming events, held throughout the year. On May 12, Heather Klein will perform at a CD release party at the JCC of East Berkeley. Click here for more information.
