Romeo and Juliet in Yiddish
-
Romeo and Juliet in Yiddish is an ambitious romantic dramady, directed by Eve Annenberg, that retells the famous story with 55% of the dialogue in Yiddish- the first American film to do so in 70 years. The film made a sold-out debut at the New York Jewish Film Festival earlier this year and has won over audiences in Berlin, London and Montreal. The film was shot on a meager budget of $175,000, and needs to raise some more funds to finish the film before it plays at the Film Society of Lincoln Center and other festivals this summer.
